Shelley is a physiotherapist with over 25 years experience and has specialized in manual therapy and exercise. She is certified in dry needling, has an advanced diploma in manipulation, completed a masters in Sport and Exercise therapy, is a Canadian Board Certified health and wellness coach and is currently completing her diploma in holistic nutrition. Her passion for holistic care, evidence based practice and client autonomy are the pillars that drive her career.

Shelley Cowcill is a physiotherapist who specializes in working with amateur and professional athletes to help prevent injury and achieve peak performance. She lives in South Surrey/White Rock where she has worked in private practice for the past seventeen years.

Shelley’s passion for sports manifests in both her personal life and her work. She has worked extensively with all levels of athletes from recreational to world class professionals, providing on field training, preseason screening and/or injury prevention. Her experience in athletics has included (but is not exclusive to) working with a pro-cycling team, Bayside Rugby, the WRCA Senior basketball team, the Eagles Hockey Club and Flip City Gymnastics. Shelley also works with personal trainers to screen and set guidelines for training programs for their clients.

Shelley is passionate about education with her clients and her colleagues, and practices lifelong learning. In addition to numerous interest courses she has received a Diploma in Advanced Manipulative Therapy, became certified in Gunn IMS (dry needling), is trained in the use of Real Time Ultrasound imaging for the abdominal wall and pelvic floor, and is currently completing the courses for Visceral Manipulation. This allows Shelley to bring to her clients a well-rounded, current and extensive knowledge base.

Shelley is a mentor with the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists, has designed and taught seminars for local massage therapists and trainers, worked with coaches on screening tools for their athletes, and has led education workshops with teams on how to “move better”.

In her personal life Shelley strives to embody what she teaches every day. She has engaged in many sports from varsity volleyball in university, soccer, football and baseball. She is an avid hockey player and is currently working on obtaining her black belt in kick-boxing. It is this love for athletics that has motivated her to work alongside her clients to empower them to enjoy exercise regardless of what season of life they are in.
